Les Misérables

# The company staging Les Miserables (the tour) traditionally invites a local child to play Cosette on the last night wherever the musical is performed in a foreign country. 

In China in 2002, for example, a local girl named Xiaochen Wang got to be the star for one night, despite knowing little English. The song "Castle on a Cloud" was performed both in Chinese and English. That time, in the poster, Cosette was wearing a Chinese traditional costume and holding a fan to look like a Chinese girl.

# The kids in the touring companies have a tutor that travels with them. During classes they would go on field trips in each city the production would visit so the children could learn about the world they live in.

In 2001, for example, the children were assigned to make a correlation between the time in the play, the mid-1800s, and what was happening in that city during that time, such as the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts or the Battle of the Alamo in Texas.
